Ten Cents on the Dollar

What an Indian part really costs to land in the US, the UK and Europe.

There is a number that never appears in a unit price, and it can decide the whole comparison. It's the duty.

Two quotes can look identical on paper and land at very different costs. Here is what changes when the part comes from India.

Ten cents on every dollar

US duty on $100,000 of parts

China$25,30025.3% duty
Vietnam$17,80017.8% duty
Thailand$17,80017.8% duty
India$15,30015.3% duty

General plastic parts, HTS 3926.90.99. Duty only, excluding the 0.35% customs processing fee. Rates checked October 2026.

Put $100,000 of plastic parts through US customs and the duty alone separates the countries: $25,300 from China, $17,800 from Vietnam or Thailand, $15,300 from India.

That's ten cents saved on every dollar, before anyone has negotiated anything. Your part may sit under a different tariff code, which is why we put the code on every quote.

In Britain, nothing at all

UK duty on £100,000 of parts

China£6,0006% UK Global Tariff
Taiwan£6,0006% UK Global Tariff
Thailand£6,0006% UK Global Tariff
India£0UK–India trade agreement, with the certificate of origin we provide

General plastic parts; India under the UK–India trade agreement with a preferential certificate of origin, which we provide. Rates checked October 2026.

Under the UK–India trade agreement, most goods made in India now enter Britain duty-free. We provide the certificate of origin that makes it happen.

Europe: watch this space

Today a plastic part from India pays the same 6.5% EU duty as one from China. Buyers who qualify Indian suppliers before the agreement takes effect will feel the saving first.
